Hands on exercises for the classes were the best learning aids. I felt that the openMP course was slow to start, especially if you already know pthread basics. Food was good but there should have been more as some people had to go without, particularly for the breakfast break session.

The instructors, Sergey Mashchenko, James Desjardins, Weiguang Guan, Jose Nandez and others, tried really hard to gave students very good hand-on experience on HPC. They would like to help whenever you have a problem even during lunch time. After each session, they stick around and trid to help students. I got such extra help from them and really appreciated it. Thank you! Now I am more confident on HPC.

I loved the summer school. The organization was very well done and I found the sessions I attended to be interesting and stimulating. I particularly enjoyed the hands on aspect of the sessions.

The summer school was great! A lot of useful knowledge in HPC and practical hands-on exercises. One thing could be improved by introducing basic knowledge on cluster hardware and parallel computing on different systems before introducing pthread, which could help understand the difference between pthreads, OpenMP and Open MPI better.

The summer school was amazing! The slides and exercises are helpful and interesting. Especially, the instructors are so patient and friendly and helpful. I really enjoy this summer school and have learned a lot.

The summer school on HPC was organized and well prepared. The courses offered covered the most emerging topics in HPC. The lectures and the hand on exercises were very useful in understanding the concepts discussed. The instructors were professional in conducting the sessions in terms of: covering the most important concepts in any topic, providing exercises, and interacting with the students in an effective manner. Moreover, effective use of the session time by utilizing each minute. It was a chance to meet graduate students from different universities in Ontario. All in all, the summer school was successful and I recommend it to all interested students in the field of HPC.

This is the first time to study parallel computation, MPI and Fortran. Lack of basic knowledge gives me lots of difficulties. I think it's better to release documents on basic knowledge before seminar and add more practical examples during the course. Overall, this is a very good chance for students who want to do related jobs. This summer school is very good.

It was very beneficial for me to attend this summer school, especially the CUDA and Octave classes because they are related to my work.

Good instructors and good material. I only went to the CUDA sessions this year, and found them very helpful. My only suggestion would be to have more hands-on time, maybe with some sort of running example throughout that we can build upon. In any case, thank you very much for holding this event!

overall good. The instructors were very knowledgeable. Remove the stuff on using paraview, chemistry packages, cloud computing, as it was a complete waste of time. For the last day focus more on debugging with more exercises.
